TAF’s ongoing engagement with Suva’s thriving creative industry
Talanoa Arts Forum Co-Director Yuki Kihara recently visited Suva, Fiji (14–16 October 2026), engaging with artists and cultural practitioners to deepen understanding of their creative practices, perspectives, and aspirations.
The visit strengthened regional connections, fostered meaningful dialogue, and yielded valuable insights to support the growth, visibility, and sustainability of Pacific arts and culture. Regional connections in the arts are crucial as they enable the exchange of diverse ideas and practices, enriching the cultural landscape.
These connections also help to foster relationships and provide opportunities to explore how respective arts communities between Sāmoa and Fiji can collaborate, share resources, and gain exposure beyond their immediate community. This network of support helps to preserve unique cultural identities while supporting innovation and resilience in the arts sector.
Talanoa Arts Forum extends its sincere gratitude to Peter Sipeli, Jim Raiwalui, The Poetry Shop Fiji, Fiji Craft Society, Oceania Arts Centre (USP), Oceania Dance Theatre, Pasifika Voices, Fiji Filmmakers Collective, Pacific Human Rights Festival, Viti Association of Visual Artists, University of Fiji, Fiji Museum, Fiji Arts Council, and the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts of the Government of Fiji for their warm welcome, collaboration, and support.
